A garlic grater. Rub a peeled clove across the rough patch and it comes apart into a paste, then pour the oil straight in and carry the dish to the table. Black and white glass swirled together like ink dropped into water, with one side left plain white and the grating texture fired in dark through the middle. The corners lift, so the oil stays where it is put. Kiln-fused by hand — wash it in warm water rather than the dishwasher.
